Brett Forrest, Managing Partner
Brett Forrest is the founder and Managing Partner of Compass Consulting Group since its inception in 2008. Previously, Brett held leadership positions in the biopharmaceutical industry at Genentech and Eli Lilly performing a variety of roles in marketing, sales, training, and consulting. Brett is passionate about helping business leaders achieve their goals by providing flexible, comprehensive solutions that drive results.
Brett holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business from the University of Massachusetts, and a Masters in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.
Brett enjoys spending time with his wife and children doing a variety of activities including skiing, soccer, baseball and tennis.
Tom Edwards, VP of Customer Development
Tom Edwards is the VP of Customer Development with the responsibility of developing and servicing our customer in the Eastern US. Previously, Tom held leadership positions in the biopharmaceutical industry at Keryx, Genzyme, Genentech and Eli Lilly performing a variety of roles in sales such as sales leadership, commercial training, commercial ops and analytics and consulting. Tom has a strong understanding of the commercial functions and has worked with hundreds of candidates as they look to find mutually beneficial opportunities across the start-up environment through large, established multinational corporations.
Tom holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University where he graduated Magna cum Laude. Tom enjoys spending time with his family doing a variety of activities including skiing, hiking and water activities in the mountains and lakes of Northern New England.
Mark Miles, VP of Business Development
Mark Miles has over 20 years of executive leadership experience within Global Marketing, Sales, and Business Development for life science leaders and emerging start-ups. Previously, Mark served as Sr. Director of Commercial Strategy for Invuity, an innovative medical technology company focused on improving surgical outcomes. Key responsibilities included preparing the company for a successful IPO, upstream and downstream marketing, professional education, and sales training. Prior to Invuity, he held leadership positions within Medtronic, the world’s largest medical device company, where he served as Head of Pipeline and Portfolio Strategy and Director of Global Marketing for the Endovascular business unit. Mark began his career as a Sales and Marketing leader with Eli Lilly and Company.
Mark holds a B.S. in Health Sciences and minor in Physiotherapy from James Madison University and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.
Lisette Cruz, Director of Business Development & Recruiting
Lisette Cruz is an enthusiastic business developer and recruiter, holding more than 10 years of experience working with various companies here in the Bay Area. Initially beginning her early career exploring the sciences, she graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Biology. But as her interests expanded to the commercial side of the industry, she began focusing her efforts on building businesses. During this time, Lisette grew her own business–providing marketing, sales, and business development support for Bay Area businesses including local Pharma companies. With her experience in account development, ranging from success in establishing new accounts and resuscitating inactive accounts, Lisette has always found success through her sincere desire to help a business grow.
Joining Compass Consulting Group has been an exciting venture for Lisette. She enjoys identifying and meeting critical needs between candidates and clients, and feels rewarded when she can help each attain their goals. By acutely assessing the needs of both, and finding the intersection between the two, she is able to forge new partnerships by utilizing tandem networks and resources. With great interpersonal skills and the ability to genuinely care about the growth and well-being of individuals and companies, she looks forward to establishing long lasting, successful partnerships between current and future connections.
Justin Truskey, Sr. Manager, Account and Recruiting
Justin Truskey has over three years’ experience in the recruiting field and two years in management. At Compass Consulting Group, Justin is the Sr. Manager of Account and Recruiting with the task of recruiting, screening and interviewing candidates.
He was born in Newport Beach, California and grew up in Walnut Creek, California. In 2006 he moved to Shanghai, China for university and work. While in China, Justin entered the education industry, eventually becoming the manager of the largest office of Berlitz in Beijing, China.
Justin completed his Bachelor of Arts at San Francisco State University, majoring in International Relations. He then moved to China to pursue his studies at Concordia University Irvine where he received his Master of Arts in International Studies with an emphasis in business.
His passions are sports and you can find him playing golf and tennis on the weekend. He also, enjoys hiking the surrounding foothills and mountains.
Desiree Inouye, Operations Manager
Desiree Inouye is an experienced Business Management Professional with more than 12 years of experience working in various business functions including Human Resources, finance, and operations. She graduated from the University of the Pacific with a degree in Business Administration.
Prior to joining Compass Consulting, Desiree worked for top Bay Area companies such as Sandia National Laboratories and Pacific Gas & Electric. In addition to her extensive experience in data analysis and financials, Desiree is a trained and certified Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma. With her passion for process improvement, she has successfully developed and deployed several process improvement projects within her organization and as an outside consultant.
Desiree joins the Compass Consulting Group as the Operations Manager. Her management experience focuses on improving efficiency while still providing great customer service. With her expertise in analytics and strategic planning, she will also collaborate with Human Resources and Marketing to meet overall business objectives.
Jessie Thomas, HR Manager
Jessie Thomas brings over 15 years of experience in all aspects of HR. Her broad experience includes benefits, employee relations, payroll, accounting, event management, and office management. Jessie graduated from California State University at Chico with a BS degree. Shortly after, she was fortunate enough to reside in Maui where she discovered her passion for event management. She was able to use her skills to run events such as The Mercedes Championship for the PGA tour and the men’s professional tennis event in San Jose, the SAP Open. Jessie started her HR career while working for an Embroidery and Screen Printing Company and found her niche.
Jessie’s focus at Compass Consulting Group is to care for and address the needs of our staff. Her skills are a great match for our rapid growth. She provides the time, attention, and support that each individual deserves in the onboarding process. With over a hundred employees, Jessie still continues to meet the needs of our team across the country.
Jessie’s passion is her family. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
