Talent_Compass_2016The Clinical Business Operations, Senior Associate  will mainly focus on facilitating accurate and on time payments, investigative payment administration, Sunshine Act Compliance, oversight of Clinical Research Organization (CRO) investigator Payments, and Customer Service to internal and external stakeholders including the clinical operations teams and investigators/ institutions. The CBO Senior Associate is responsible to accurately process clinical research site payments and invoices within strict timelines, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, corporate and departmental guidelines and all applicable regulations governing the conduct of clinical trials.  The CBO Senior Associate will work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional departments (i.e. Finance, CBO Site Contracts, Vendor Outsourcing, Accounts Payable, Legal, Clinical Systems, and Data Management) in performing assigned duties including the development of processes and procedures that relate to processing clinical research site payments.  In addition, the CBO Sr. Associate will work in close collaboration with Clinical Operations to respond to queries, resolve issues and escalations, handle research site payment activities, track current and historical payments, independently manage site payment metrics, communicate directly with clinical research sites, perform administrative duties, serve as CBO site payment SME, and provide training to internal employees, departments and external clients as needed.


Role Responsibilities Include:

  • Independently analyze contract payment terms, payment information, corporate processes, policies and related databases, systems and tools to manage clinical research site invoices, pre-invoices and payments within established timelines;
  • Prepare invoices and related back-up documentation to obtain payment review and approval;
  • Track and reconcile invoices and payments using various systems and tools;
  • Enter clinical research site contract payment information within departmental trackers and CBO’s CTMS database;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to respond to payment related questions and drive solutions to complex issues that involve contract pricing, payment calculations, corporate payment processes and timelines, pricing approvals, contract language interpretation, historical payment validations, etc.;
  • Support internal and external audits relating to assigned job responsibilities;
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of multiple areas in moderately complex Clinical Business Operations;
  • Actively participate in the development, communication and ongoing maintenance of CBO’s payment systems, processes, procedures, payment data and reporting requirements;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to provide year-end/month-end accounting close and accrual reporting support;
  • Manage investigator payment activities for multiple clinical development programs;
  • Proactively manage business related communications (mailboxes, emails, phone calls, etc.) in accordance with department standards and timelines;
  • Participate and support CBO Associate Director in establishing departmental and cross-functional policies and procedures;
  • Participate, lead and/or support other special projects, meetings or cross-functional process initiatives as assigned;
  • Assist other CBO staff in resolving moderately complex issues relating to global payment administration;
  • Train CBO staff in payment administration and serves as a SME in site payments;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
